LAND ART AND PARK SCULPTURE IN THE BOTANICAL GARDEN
15 May - 15 October, 2015
The exhibition project "The Gallery of Sculpture in the Botanical Garden" have
The arrangement of the exhibition of sculptures in the Botanical Garden is a great responsibility. For the realization of this sort of actions the priority of the scientific approach, the historical paradigm and the landscape features of the park are necessary to be taken into the account. So, all these components formed the basis of my work. Also our special attention was paid to the main routes which visitors of the garden use. As a result, all the necessary accents forming art impression at the expense of the landscape, which was at our disposal, were stressed.
A total of sixty four works, fifteen of which are the objects of landscape art, have been presented at the exhibition.
There is a landscape art exposition along Aptekarskaya Embankment, which is a combination of the art objects and sculptures entered dramatically in the landscape space.
In fact, landscape is a part of the art area. There are several directions and a lot of techniques in land art. “The Second Life of the Tree” project, focused firstly on the presentation of the sculptural forms in the field of land art, distinguishes from such directions as "earthworks" and "nature sculpture" which can be referred to land art as well.(about the art symposium read: http://www.sculptureinrussia.com/o_galeree/).
We set one of the most interesting task on the creation of plastic and sculptural decisions based on the obligatory usage of the processed or partially processed wood in combination with the landscape reality of these or those sites of the park. While working on the sketches, the authors aimed at art transforming the nature by using some natural materials, such as branches, fragments of the trunks, wood invoice. We have chosen the most "desolate" part of the park – along Aptekarskaya Embankment – where visitors of the garden practically did not drop in before. Nowadays it is one of the art accents of the park and you cannot find similar expositions anywhere else in the city. By the way, the project is recommended by the Children's television for a family rest in the park.
In the rest part of the garden there is an exposition of the modern park sculpture works. This year abstract works gravitating to conventional forms prevail because the Botanical Garden, unlike usual leisure parks, does not need any ornamental traditional sculptures. We did not build "the avenue of sculptures", did not spread any fantastic or folklore "figures on clearings", and did not break the garden space by any revolutionary and conceptual forms. Our exposition consists of "silent", pacifying images made from stone, which cause a meditative mood, abstract forms, repeating the crowns of the trees, and vital compositions made from metal.
I want to express my gratitude to everyone who helped us realize this project. My special gratitude is to the management of BIN RAN. We were helped to keep the wooden sculptures and art objects from the influence of the environment by the NPO NORT Company which provided us with fire and bioprotective mixtures of "Pirilax Prime" and protective and decorative mixtures of "Krasula" as sponsorship.
The years of studying the development of modern sculpture and considerable experience in organizing the exhibitions of park and landscape sculpture, and now land art, give us an idea that nowadays parks have become a kind of art means which help people come closer to nature as plastic art in combination with the environment is one of the ways of education the feeling of harmony and fine.
Sculptures at the exhibition are for sell, also is possible to order something special as landscape design and land-art.
