SCULPTURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN
February, 4. 2010 — April, 30. 2010
A new exhibition in Sculpture Gallery is dedicated to interior sculpture — works not for exhibition halls, but for chamber individual private interiors. There are works which symbolize such important things like comfort, delicacy and style.
But this exhibition is not just a demonstration of sculptures as an ideal part of any interior. It is based on environment aestheticization, which is expressed in traditional and avant-garde forms. The sculptures are functional, but plastic at the same time.
There is a kind of a dialogue between sculpture and the world of objects impressed in presence of different styles, techniques mad materials: monumental, almost architectural forms (Yu. Firsov), lamps and floor-lamps looking like sculpture compositions (V. Petrovichev), constructive fantasy objects, (K. Golubenkov), brittle miniature masterpieces full of feeling and allegory (J. Muradova), or ancient materials associated with ancient art (V. Moiseev). As for the shape these are interior sculptures, a pride of collectors and objects of esthetic pleasure for interested people. As for content these are works of masters with good taste.
For those who like graphics there are works by V. Zhukov in traditional Chinese style of Guohua. Zhukov learnt China ink painting on rice paper while traveling in the East. And it shows the artists talent in everything from and ordinary still-life painting to industrial scenery of the northern capital.
Making an interior is a bit more than just decoration it. This means creating your own environment, admiring its beauty and looking for implication in everyday things. And our Sculpture Gallery will help you with it.
